Hydro plans & benefits
Having raised over £750,000 to build The Beehive’s new therapy wing, sensory room and training kitchen, our vision is to now build a dedicated therapy pool. With this, we can provide life-changing water-based therapy.
The benefits
Reduce pain
Relieve muscle spasms
Maintain or increase joint range of motion
Improve mobility
Fun and enjoyable
Strengthen weak muscles
Psychological well-being
Achieve independent standing or even walking in water
Maintain or improve balance, coordination and posture
Offers new freedom
Meet sensory needs
Social interaction
Potential to prolong life
We will use colour, light and bubbles to transform the pool area into a sensory space to stimulate or relax according to each individual’s needs.
There will be four changing rooms, each fully accessible and equipped with showers and changing tables. A hoist will run from each of these changing rooms directly to the pool, removing the need for additional transfers; saving discomfort, time and preserving dignity.
The therapy pool will be built next to The Beehive, on a site adjacent to Lily’s Place, our children’s respite home. This will enable children to use the pool for therapy and recreation during their stays at the respite home, as well as the hundreds of Dorset children who access our school holiday play sessions, expanding the reach and impact of the pool.
